Something We Need To Be Watching?

Here's something that is not getting much media attention.

Hey folks,

Why? Did you hear about this? Turns out a Russian Sub has been located in the Gulf of Mexico? Same time Obama is cutting funding to Anti-sub Defense Systems. Coincidence? Or stupidity? Which is worse, I do not know.

Look folks. I have been warning you that Putin never went anywhere, and that he would once again hold the Reins of Russia. I have told you how he longs for the days of the Cold War and how he wants the USSR back.

We know he has been friends with those that are at war with us. We know he is taken past USSR territories back, restoring the secrete police, and is starting to sound the trumpet against US.

What is worse? The Media is reporting NOTHING. Here is the story...

Red October redux? John Cornyn demands answers from Pentagon on Russian sub in Gulf of Mexico
This story hasn’t gotten much traction in the mainstream media, but Texas Sen. John Cornyn has been on it all week: Russian submarine activity in the Gulf of Mexico.

After receiving no satisfaction to earlier comments to the media, Cornyn wrote a letter today to Admiral Jonathan Greenert, the Pentagon’s Chief of Naval Operations, demanding answers.

“The submarine patrol, taken together with the air incursions, seems to represent a more aggressive and destabilizing Russian military stance that could pose risks to our national security,” Cornyn wrote. “This is especially troubling given the drastic defense cuts sought by President Obama, which include reductions in funding for antisubmarine defense systems.”

The story has received relatively little attention since appearing in the conservative media outlet The Washington Free Beacon. According to the original report by longtime military correspondent Bill Gertz:

A Russian nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles operated undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks and its travel in strategic U.S. waters was only confirmed after it left the region, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

It is only the second time since 2009 that a Russian attack submarine has patrolled so close to U.S. shores.

The stealth underwater incursion in the Gulf took place at the same time Russian strategic bombers made incursions into restricted U.S. airspace near Alaska and California in June and July, and highlights a growing military assertiveness by Moscow.

Cornyn, a San Antonio Republican who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, says the report is “especially troubling given the drastic defense cuts sought by President Obama, which include reductions in funding for antisubmarine defense systems.”

A Pentagon spokesman, Navy Lieutenant Commander John Fage, dismissed Gertz’s report.
“We are aware of the reporting but we see nothing to indicate that it is true,” Fage told the Houston Chronicle.
True or not, do you think someone should be checking it out? We know the Government lies. Especially this Regime. So the Media should be doing their jobs and reporting this? Correct?

Here’s the complete text of Sen. Cornyn’s letter:
Dear Admiral Greenert:
According to press reports, a Russian nuclear-powered attack submarine recently traveled undetected in the Gulf of Mexico on a month-long patrol. This submarine activity reportedly occurred in June and July, simultaneously with incursions by Russian strategic bombers into restricted U.S. airspace.

If these reports are accurate, the repercussions are serious. It is my understanding that an Akula-class submarine can be armed with an array of weapons, including torpedoes and long-range cruise missiles, capable of destroying both U.S. nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers.

The submarine patrol, taken together with the air incursions, seems to represent a more aggressive and destabilizing Russian military stance that could pose risks to our national security. This is especially troubling given the drastic defense cuts sought by President Obama, which include reductions in funding for antisubmarine defense systems.

In light of the gravity of this situation, I request a detailed explanation of the facts surrounding these reports. Thank you for your faithful service to our nation, your dedication to our Armed Forces, and your commitment to ensuring the welfare of our men and women in uniform and their families.
If this is not true, then the mainstream media has a duty to report it. "There is a story out there of a Russian Sub in the Gulf of Mexico. Yet, after intensive investigations, we have found this to be false." OR, "There has been a report out there of a Russian Sub in the Gulf of Mexico. After intensive investigations, we find this to be credible. We addressed this with the Obama Administration, here is what they said.

What do we get? Romney and Ryan hate women and want to take away their rights. {Sigh}

Russian Base in Cuba?

New Cold War? Cuban Missile Crisis?

Hey folks,

Four years is a long time. Once it became apparent that Obama was going to be the new American President, the World got more dark and more dangerous. Iran spend up their Nuclear Quest. Russia, began to speed up their process of reversion back to the USSR.

I've been talking about Russia, Putin in particular, for years. He never left control. He wants Mother Russia back. He wants the Cold War back. Do you remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? For some of you who may be too young, or just do not know, here is a brief summery.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war. The United States armed forces were at their highest state of readiness ever and Soviet field commanders in Cuba were prepared to use battlefield nuclear weapons to defend the island if it was invaded. Luckily, thanks to the bravery of two men, President John F. Kennedy and Premier Nikita Khrushchev, war was averted.

In 1962, the Soviet Union was desperately behind the United States in the arms race. Soviet missiles were only powerful enough to be launched against Europe but U.S. missiles were capable of striking the entire Soviet Union. In late April 1962, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev conceived the idea of placing intermediate-range missiles in Cuba. A deployment in Cuba would double the Soviet strategic arsenal and provide a real deterrent to a potential U.S. attack against the Soviet Union.

Meanwhile, Fidel Castro was looking for a way to defend his island nation from an attack by the U.S. Ever since the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961, Castro felt a second attack was inevitable. Consequently, he approved of Khrushchev's plan to place missiles on the island. In the summer of 1962 the Soviet Union worked quickly and secretly to build its missile installations in Cuba.
For the United States, the crisis began on October 15, 1962 whenreconnaissance photographs revealed Soviet missiles under construction in Cuba. Early the next day, President John Kennedy was informed of the missile installations. Kennedy immediately organized the EX-COMM, a group of his twelve most important advisors to handle the crisis. After seven days of guarded and intense debate within the upper echelons of government, Kennedy concluded to impose a naval quarantine around Cuba. He wished to prevent the arrival of more Soviet offensive weapons on the island. On October 22, Kennedy announced the discovery of the missile installations to the public and his decision to quarantine the island. He also proclaimed that any nuclear missile launched from Cuba would be regarded as an attack on the United States by the Soviet Union and demanded that the Soviets remove all of their offensive weapons from Cuba.

During the public phase of the Crisis, tensions began to build on both sides. Kennedy eventually ordered low-level reconnaissance missions once every two hours. On the 25th Kennedy pulled the quarantine line back and raised military readiness to DEFCON 2. Then on the 26th EX-COMM heard from Khrushchev in an impassioned letter. He proposed removing Soviet missiles and personnel if the U.S. would guarantee not to invade Cuba. October 27 was the worst day of the crisis. A U-2 was shot down over Cuba and EX-COMM received a second letter from Khrushchev demanding the removal of U.S. missiles in Turkey in exchange for Soviet missiles in Cuba. Attorney General Robert Kennedy suggested ignoring the second letter and contacted Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin to tell him of the U.S. agreement with the first.

Tensions finally began to ease on October 28 when Khrushchev announced that he would dismantle the installations and return the missiles to the Soviet Union, expressing his trust that the United States would not invade Cuba. Further negotiations were held to implement the October 28 agreement, including a United States demand that Soviet light bombers be removed from Cuba, and specifying the exact form and conditions of United States assurances not to invade Cuba.
Now as we have discussed in the past, Putin seems to be hell bent on restoring everything he saw as what was good about Mother Russia. He is attempting to reacquire territories and lands that have broken free. He wants it all back. He knew Obama would do nothing to stop him, or even slow him down. After all, we did give him a Button that said "peregruzka." Which our geniuses in Washington, or is it Albuquerque, I don't know, where ever our capital is, thought it said Reset in Russian. Problem is, it says "Overcharged."

So now we learn that Putin is taking more steps toward this goal. He wants back in Cuba. According to Reuters - Russia wants naval bases abroad: report
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia hopes to establish its first naval base abroad since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union and is looking at Cuba, Vietnam and the Seychelles as possible locations, state-run RIA news agency quoted the navy chief as saying on Friday.
Pay attention to Cuba folks.
Russia has been increasing the reach of its navy in recent years, sending warships further afield as part of an effort to restore pride project power in a world dominated by the U.S. military.

"It's true that we are continuing work on providing the navy with basing outside the Russian Federation," RIA quoted Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov as saying in an interview.

The Soviet Union had a large naval base in Communist ally Vietnam but post-Soviet Russia opted to vacate the Cam Ranh base in 2002, during President Vladimir Putin's first Kremlin term, because rent payments were a burden on state coffers.
The fate of Russia's only naval facility outside the former Soviet Union, a maintenance and supply facility in the Syrian port of Tartous, is uncertain because of the conflict in Syria.

Chirkov said Russia was "working out the issue of creating sites for material and technical support on the territory of Cuba, the Seychelles and Vietnam," RIA reported.

Chirkov's wording suggested facilities in those countries might be less extensive than full-scale naval bases. Navy officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, who was in Russia and was to meet Putin on Friday, was quoted as telling a Russian radio station that Vietnam has "no intention of cooperating with any country with the aim of military use of the port of Cam Ranh".

However, Sang was quoted as telling Voice of Russia radio that a maintenance and service facility at the port would be open to ships from all nations and that, in the interest of furthering a "strategic partnership" with Moscow, Vietnam "will provide Russia with advantages in Cam Ranh, including with aim of developing military cooperation".
So as we reduce our presence in the World, Russia is advancing. As we reduce our arsenal, Iran, Russia, North Korea, China, and others are increasing theirs. As we decrease our national security, others are attempting to increase theirs. They are getting ready for something. Are we?

Putin Bringing Back USSR

Short and sweet. But people better pay attention.

Hey folks,

As I keep telling you, we live in dangerous times. They are getting more and more dangerous as time goes on. This is why it is so important to have a true leader in this country. One that our allies trust, and one that our enemies fear. One that understands reality. One that is resolved to the goal of bringing America back to a leadership role in the world. One that our enemies will believe will do ANYTHING they need to do to fulfill their number one job. Keep America safe and protect our allies.

As you know I have been following Putin for years. I have been telling you what he is all about. He is all about Mother Russia. He misses the cold war. He misses the USSR. He wants Russia to be the great superpower it once was. Now that he is President again, he is taking steps to bring this about. Just read the following. Short and sweet. But people better pay attention.
(Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin named seven former cabinet ministers as aides on Tuesday, in a move expected to weaken Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's new government and shift power to the Kremlin.
Putin, in a decree issued a day after the government was formed, also confirmed loyal ally Sergei Ivanov as his chief of staff while Nikolai Patrushev stays on as secretary of the presidential Security Council.
One name missing from the list of appointments was that of Igor Sechin, Putin's energy 'tsar' in the previous government, who had been expected to maintain control over the oil industry after Putin returned to the Kremlin.
The appointments indicated Putin, who was inaugurated for a six-year presidential term on May 7 after four years as prime minister, may use his administration as a center of power separate from the government headed by Medvedev.
Among the former ministers Putin brought to the Kremlin as aides are ex-Economy Minister Elvira Nabiullina, former Health Minister Tatyana Golikova, former Natural Resources Minister Yuri Trutnev and former Transport Minister Igor Levitin.
Putin named former Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, whose term was marred by police violence, corruption and abuse scandals, as a deputy to Patrushev at the Security Council, an influential advisory body.
Romney is going to be a busy President. He has to deal with the World, AND fix all the stuff Obama messed up. It's going to a hard job. Made even harder by all the failures and missteps of Obama.
