IWA for Sunday 060312

Sticking with our Holiday version of the IWA.

Hey folks,

Last week was Memorial Day weekend. Three day weekend. BBQs, some events all across the country to Honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we have. People talked about our true Heroes. Families told stories of their loved ones lost. They told why they joined the Armed Services, what they were asked to do, and or, why they died.

All across this country, our brave men and women were honored. They were honored for the true heroes that they are. I know some of you will not like this simple truth. However, your acceptance or denial of this fact, does not change it. Freedom is bought with blood. Freedom is never free. Never has been.

The ultimate example of this is Christ himself. He was brutally beaten. Suffered many things, and was put to death, for YOU. He was beaten for YOUR Sins. He was killed, for YOUR death. He shed his blood, so you did not have to. The Bible even says:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

Jesus died for your freedom to live eternally with God, after you leave this world. That is the ultimate example of Freedom bought with blood. Our very country was bought by the blood of those that founded it. The freedoms we have were bought, and defended, with blood. We are still free, because some, over time, when necessary, stepped out and up, and they paid for our continued freedoms with their blood.

So when Memorial Day comes around, we set aside some time to remember those brave men and women that have done this over the years. You can hate war all you want. I'm no fan of it. But when you realize this simple fact, freedom is bought with blood, and others attempt to take it by force, you understand that it must be defended. Just because you may not like war, doesn't mean those that want you dead, will simply just go away.

What about all those"unjust" wars? What about all those places that we are fighting, or have fought in, that we have no business being in? Blame the Commander and Chief. Ask why. Speak out against the war. Speak out against war itself. However, there is not one solider, anywhere, at any time, that started a war.

The warrior is TOLD, go break stuff and kill people. They go break stuff and kill people. If the war is unjust, it is the fault of those in power and the leaders of the armies. It is NOT the warrior. It is not the soldier. As a matter of fact, we hear stories all the time of enemy soldiers helping each other out. Our medics actually saving enemy soldiers lives. Two guys trapped in a fox hold sharing water and rations.

Most of the time, the soldiers do not know why, or even want to be there. But they ARE. They are not enemies. The governments are. They are there because they were told, go break stuff and kill people. So I have no problem if you hate war. Hate war. Respect the soldier. Especially one that lays down his very life for you.

So on Sunday last weekend, our Idiot, a liberal, go figure right? A liberal, who most likely thinks that he is the smartest person in the room, comes out with this.
"Thinking today and observing Memorial Day, that'll be happening tomorrow. Just talked with Lt. Col. Steve Burke, who was a casualty officer with the Marines and had to tell people [inaudible]. Um, I, I, ah, [Steve] Beck, sorry, um, I think it's interesting because I think it is very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words "heroes." Um, and, ah, ah, why do I feel so comfortable [sic] about the word "hero"? I feel comfortable, ah, uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war. Um, and, I don't want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that's fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism: hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic. But maybe I'm wrong about that."
YES! You are wrong about that. You arrogant twit. "Pete, you are using the word twit wrong here. Twit refers to a female." Yeah, what's your point? This arrogant twit is uncomfortable with using the word "heroes." Why? because he hates war. He feels if we use the word heroes, that somehow we glorify war, and may it look like a goal to strive for. No Chris. You would feel a whole lot more uncomfortable with a size 15 enemy soldiers boot up your ass. Well, maybe not. But it was the heroes that died, that gave you the right to get on national television and say stupid stuff like this. It's called the First Amendment. You were given that Right, because people bought it for you with their own blood.

Now to be fair, Chris Hayes tried to apologize.

"As many have rightly pointed out, it's very easy for me, a TV host, to opine about the people who fight our wars, having never dodged a bullet or guarded a post or walked a mile in their boots. Of course, that is true of the overwhelming majority of our nation's citizens as a whole."
Stop. That's WHY they are called heroes Chris. They do the things you liberal pansies would never do.
"One of the points made during Sunday's show was just how removed most Americans are from the wars we fight, how small a percentage of our population is asked to shoulder the entire burden and how easy it becomes to never read the names of those who are wounded and fight and die, to not ask questions about the direction of our strategy in Afghanistan, and to assuage our own collective guilt about this disconnect with a pro-forma ritual that we observe briefly before returning to our barbecues."
Or failing to call these heroes, what they are, heroes. You were not talking about a disconnect and BBQs. You said you were uncomfortable using the word heroes. Who really cares what you think anyway? It was all about YOU Chris. Not the disconnect of most Americans. Most Americans see our men and women of the military as heroes. They are not the one with the problem.
"But in seeking to discuss the civilian-military divide and the social distance between those who fight and those who don't, I ended up reinforcing it, conforming to a stereotype of a removed pundit whose views are not anchored in the very real and very wrenching experience of this long decade of war. And for that I am truly sorry."
{Sigh} You are an Idiot Chris. You hate the military. You hate the soldier. You most likely hate this very country. Try living in Iran. Try living in Cuba. I love little libs like you. You actually believe that you are mainstream. You actually believe that people see things your way. You actually believe you are the smartest person in the room. Your not. Not even close. You are like a child playing in a big world that you just do not understand. You are, without and doubt, the Idiot of the Week. Leave grown up stuff to the grown ups. What'cha say? {smile, wink}
