Gabby

BIG I told ya so!

Hey folks,

Back on July 1st 2012, I said this....
I have a prediction. One, we win the Gold. Two, HERE is the Olympic All Around Champion. Gabrielle Douglas. This chick is AMAZING. Basically, even though it didn't count, She WON the World Championships.

She takes competing very seriously, but she has fun while doing it. She does not however, take herself very seriously. She is humble, and funny, and just simply, the best at what she does. She hits her routines and makes it look easy. I personally think she has been overlooked, and I think she will surprise everyone. Everyone except me that is.
We did it. SHE Did it. The Fierce Five, Yeah I know, but that is what they would rather be called. The Fierce Five won the Gold. Yesterday? Yesterday Gabby Douglas made history.
America's new gymnastics sweetheart is a 16-year-old girl with a megawatt smile, steady nerves and an unusual nickname. Gabrielle Douglas, known as the Flying Squirrel for her aerial prowess, became the first African-American Olympics all-around gold medalist, leading wire-to-wire in Thursday's competition. The silver medal went to Russia's Victoria Komova, who wept in frustration after finishing a distant second.
I told ya so. I LOVE this headline. Gabby Douglas Takes Two Olympic Golds—And Hair Criticism Seriously?
As American teen gymnast Gabby Douglas continues to wow the world with her grace, style, and growing collection of gold medals, an unfortunate backlash is making the rounds. Various social-media sites and platforms have begun to chastise the new sports darling for, of all things, the upkeep of her hair.

Douglas’s unique and inspiring story—she’s one of the few African-American gymnasts ever to compete in the Olympic Games and the first black woman to take the all-around individual title—has helped her capture the covers of Time and Sports Illustrated. Even President Obama called her to congratulate her on her gold medals. But on social-media outlets such as Twitter and several black blogs, it’s her ponytail, and not her dominance at the London Games, that seems to have become the focal point.
Are ya kidding me?
“I love how she’s doing her thing and winning,’’ says 22-year-old Latisha Jenkins of Detroit told The Daily Beast. “But I just hate the way her hair looks with all those pins and gel. I wish someone could have helped her make it look better since she’s being seen all over the world. She representing for black women everywhere.’’
No she is not. She is representing America, and herself. She is the best in the world, and she has the Gold to prove it. Now, go sit down, eat another Twinkie, and shut up.

It just like all those that say McKayla Maroney is too sensual or sexy looking because of her eyes. I even heard one person comment on how "thick" Jordyn Wieber looked. Seriously? Any of these young Ladies would kick your butt in a second. These are kids that worked for this moment their entire life and they have achieved something YOU will never do. They won Olympic Gold. Can we stop attacking them? Let them be kids and have the time of their lives. We should be celebrating them. I'm not posting any more of this nonsense. If you really want some examples of these Idiots, click the link.

Congratulations Gabby, or now you won the Gold, MISS. Douglas. You have made the country PROUD! You know, they, the Ladies, have this saying they say to each other right before competition. They do not say "Be great." "You can do it." Break a leg." Well, I guess you should say that in Gymnastics anyway. No. They say "Be normal." Why? Because their normal IS Great! The Fierce Five proved they are the best in the World at what they do. Gabby proved she is the Best of the Best! They all have Gold to prove it.

Gabby, and all the rest, PLEASE, ignore these Idiots. Enjoy this moment, and all those to come. You have earned them. I only have one thing left to say....Thank you.

Government Continuing To Acquire More and More Power, Control

If you are like me, you watched the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London. I thought they were pretty good. Yes I watched the whole thing. I do not think it's fair to compare the opening ceremony to that of Beijing, but it was good. I really did not like the American outfits. Definitely do not get the big baby thing, but all in all I thought it was good.

So far, congrats to Ryan Lochte, who is our only American Gold Medalist so far. The count is as follows.

CountryGoldSilverBronzeTotal
China (CHN)4026
Italy (ITA)2215
United States (USA)1225
Brazil (BRA)1113
Korea (KOR)1113
Japan (JPN)0213
Australia (AUS)1001
Kazakhstan (KAZ)1001
Russia (RUS)1001

So we may only have one Gold, but we are still in the running, 3rd in over all medal count. We can do better. All eyes SHOULD be on Gabby Douglas tonight, as the Women get their first shot. I'm telling you folks, if she can keep her nerves in check, she is the one going to win it all. She is THAT good.

Going to fill my cup. Be right back.

Gabby Is The lady to Watch

Told ya so...

Hey folks,

I do not normally post on Mondays. But for this? I'll make an exception. The second paragraph is not totally true. It's the first time it COUNTED. Not the first time she won. Here is the story..

Mercury News - U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials: Gabby Douglas wins women's title; four others named to team for London

America's newest gymnastics queen earned a confetti-covered crown Sunday night at HP Pavilion by the narrowest of margins.

The vivacious Gabby Douglas edged world champion Jordyn Wieber for the first time in her career to win the all-around title at the U.S. Olympic trials at HP Pavilion. The victory highlighted a thrilling conclusion to the four-day event when Douglas joined the rest of the Olympic team as shredded paper rained down on them as they stood before a cheering sold-out audience.

Douglas, 16, won the lone automatic berth by 0.1 point and will be joined in London by Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Aly Raisman.

It's a formidable combination that will be favored to win the team gold medal after winning the world title last year.

"This was the ideal team I was thinking about, but they had to prove themselves," national team coordinator Martha Karolyi said.

No one proved themselves more than Douglas, a 16-year-old from Virginia Beach, Va.

While the teen soared, 2008 Olympians Alicia Sacramone and Nastia Liukin probably ended their careers in San Jose, as neither was named to the five-woman team. Sacramone performed well, but Liukin fell hard on the uneven bars and had to fight back tears as the audience cheered wildly to pay tribute to her storied career.

The tension built Sunday as only 0.3 points had separated Wieber and Douglas on the final day of trials. Then they traded the lead, routine afterroutine.

On the final of four rotations, Douglas and Wieber stood on the floor in their purplish leotards waiting. And hoping. It was their final moment to make a statement.

Wieber's vault ended in the slightest of hops to score 15.8. Douglas, 16, told herself, "OK, I've got this."

Known as " The Flying Squirrel" for the way she soars through routines, she had an electric smile and electrifying performance on the floor exercise. Douglas put her hand to the heart upon finishing.

When someone in the audience screamed, "Gabby, you won!" she felt chills.

Wieber, also 16, let the result roll off her. But she acknowledged feeling nervous throughout the day.

"I definitely wanted to win," said Wieber, of DeWitt, Mich. "But I made a few mistakes on the beam."

No doubt Wieber and Douglas will take the rivalry to the Summer Olympics, where they will face the formidable Russians Aliya Mustafina and Viktoria Komova.

It should make for good theater if Sunday's competition was any indication.

Douglas started the evening with an impressive vault that earned a 16.0 score. She followed that with a 15.9 on the uneven bars.

Douglas goes so high on the bars it takes an air traffic controller to monitor her flight pattern. But disaster almost struck when it appeared her hand slipped. Somehow the 5-foot gymnast held tight. She kept going to earn the big score.

"You have to make it look like nothing happened," Douglas said,

As Douglas hit her dismount she flashed a smile while her father waved an American flag.

Timothy Douglas, an Air Force staff sergeant serving in Afghanistan, arrived in San Jose on Friday in time to watch his daughter at the trials. He had yelled her name during warm-ups at HP Pavilion.

"I'm like, 'Who's calling my name?' " Douglas recalled. "And then I look up. It was my dad and his friend, and I haven't seen him in a while. They were holding up the flag. And I almost felt like bawling. I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, Dad.' "

By the time she was the newly minted trials champion, Douglas did become emotional.

But this is one step in a summer of promise.

"We don't have to back off now," Douglas said.

Now as I said before, I feel for Alicia Sacramone and Nastia Liukin. Alicia was always one of my all time favorites. However, they just didn't bring it. It, sad as it may be, IS time for them to step aside and allow the new talent to emerge and fly. That they did.

I'm feeling really good about London. Go Gabby Go!
