Let YOUR Voice Be Heard, Win A Thousand Bucks For Charity of Choice

Hi Peter

I'm emailing you with something that might be a fit for your blog about LiveCitizen and their campaign fix*us. LiveCitizen is a social networking platform that encourages users to voice their opinions on current events and political hot topics. The goal of fix*us is to get citizens to share their solutions to one of five different topics that our country is currently facing.

Hey folks,

Happy Friday to ya. For those of you who may be new here, every Friday, well, nearly every Friday, I turn over the content of the Blog to YOU. This is the day I go to the Emails, and highlight one that really got my attention. I do post Emails from time to time, but try to always pick one of the best on Friday. You too can be part of the OPNTalk2 Blog by Emailing in your Articles, Comments, Complaints, Questions, or if you want to just say "Hi", the Email IS opntalk@gmail.com

So this week, I want to highlight something I found to be interesting. Corrine, from Live Citizen, Emailed me and told me about this contest they are running. Here is a way, for YOU, no mater what your Political Views are, to let your Voice be heard. While you are at it, others will Vote on your ideas, and the winner in the five categories, will win a Thousand buck for the Charity of their choice. Here is what this is all about, from their Website.
Contest - fix*us - You Are the Solution

As a country, we do pretty well , but we are far from perfect. We've got our share of problems, and we think that you have the answers. Fix*us is a campaign about giving you the platform to weigh in on some of the biggest issues our country is facing. You can read other users' solutions and vote on the opinions you believe in. At the end of the campaign 5 winners will be selected and LiveCitizen will award a total of $5000 to the winner's charities of choice.

Who: You, and anyone you know who is passionate about making a difference! What: Fix*us Campaign, voicing your opinions, coming up with solutions, and benefitting charities. When: August 13th - October 31stWhere: www.livecitizen.com/top/fixus Why: Because this is OUR country and we don't think that politicians should be the only ones who have a say on how to run it.

What is fix*us?
"Fix US" is a social movement to help the public realize that the voices of citizens do matter and that citizens can offer solutions to mend the open wounds of this country. The concept is to find the solutions to these problems in the places where people seem the least likely to look: within each of us.

Why we came up with this idea:

As this country gears up for the impending presidential election of 2012, citizens are recognizing the issues that will ultimately affect us and influence our voting decisions. Among those issues, some reach us on a very personal level that can't be ignored:

The EconomyForeign PolicyImmigrationHealth CareSocial Issues

Can the average citizen make the choices and decisions required of the president? We think so and we want everyone's input as to how to steer this country in the right direction.

"Fix US" asks you how to fix the US by sharing your solutions with a broad audience of fellow citizens who are - like you - concerned, but optimistic about the possibilities for positive change.

When the Campaign Runs:August 13th - October 31

How the Campaign Works:
Participants will select from one of five topics (Economy, Healthcare, Social issues, Immigration, Foreign Policy). They are encouraged to give their best solutions within 360 characters or less. Every solution post must have the topic tag and the hashtag, #fixus. Once solutions are posted, they are open to public voting that will determine the winners.

Voting Process:

Voting is open to the public and the participant with the most votes on their solution will be declared the winner. There will be one winner in each of the five topic areas and each winner will receive $1000 to donate to the charity of their choice. Winners will be announced on November 13th.

About LiveCitizen

LiveCitizen is a project of Advanced Video Communications (AVC) started in 2008. Beginning with our efforts in citizen journalism, we've arrived at what we consider to be the best platform for the exchange of ideas and opinions by everyday citizens. LiveCitizen seeks to encourage dialogue between people at both ends of the political spectrum so they are more informed and more confident in our aim to make a difference.

LiveCitizen is a community of outspoken citizens who voice their opinions on an array of political topics, current events and public affairs. It's not just chatter, but a microblogging platform for discussing and debating the entire spectrum of ideas and attitudes that shape and influence the world around us.

The driving force behind LiveCitizen is the "Quote". Users have 360 characters to utilize in expressing their viewpoint on a political or societal hot topic. The quote can then be agreed or disagreed with by other users. The number of agrees or disagrees ultimately affects the political stance of the user's publicly displayed profile.
Users must make a declaration of their political leaning by choosing red (conservative), white (moderate), or blue (liberal). As users agree or disagree with other users' quotes their political gauge may shift.
You know, I hear it all the time. "I do not understand why Politicians don't get it. I have the solution." Well, now is your chance to share it, and maybe even help out a Charity of your choice in the process.

Anyone that has known me for a while, know, I'm all about letting your voice being heard. We ARE what makes the world go around. It's NOT the Millionaires and Billionaires. What do you think would happen if the Maid didn't show up to clean Donald Trumps house? Or the Garbageman didn't show up to remove Bill Gates trash? Or the Firefighter didn't show up to put out the fire at George Soros's home? The Police didn't respond to protect us? Or those that produce, package, transport, stock, and sell, our food, didn't?

The misconception is the Rich rule the world. They don't. YOU do. Just by being you.
Peter
