Saxby Chambliss Attempting To Stop SWAT-ting

I doubt Eric Holder will even read this letter.

Hey folks,

Have you heard about this? Someone, or someones are attempting to silence anyone that doesn't agree with their point of view, or worst, call them out on it. How they are doing this is now called SWAT-ting. What they do is use technology called IP, and other methods, to call the Police. It appears to the Police that the call is coming from the target's residence.

So the police do what they do. They respond. Some of these calls are intense in nature. "I just killed my wife. There is a shooting." ETC. The Police respond accordingly. Swat. Guns drawn. Unexpected homeowners, and the Police, are put into a very dangerous situation where someone could get hurt and or dead.

The reason for this new trend, appears to be an attempt to silence political dissent. The targets? Conservatives. In other words, anyone that speaks out against Obama, the Liberal Loons, or anything non-progressive.

Well, one politician is doing something about it. U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder about this, and demands that he does something about it. Here is the letter...
June 5, 2012
The Honorable Eric Holder
Attorney GeneralDepartment of Justice950 Pennsylvania Avenue. NW, Suite 5111Washington, DC 20530-0009
Dear Attorney General Holder:
I am writing with concern regarding recent reports that several members of the community of online political commentators have been targeted with harassing and frightening actions. Any potentially criminal action that incites fear, seeks to silence a dissenting opinion, and collaterally wastes the resources of law enforcement should be given close scrutiny at all levels.
According to these individuals' reports, these dangerous hoaxes, also known as "SWAT-ting," have a perpetrator contacting a local police department to report some type of violent incident at the home of the target. It is believed that these callers utilize some of the less traditional telecommunications methods, including voice over IP (VOIP) to make the call appear as though it is coming from the target residence and to better hide the true identity of the caller.
In response, a dispatcher then sends a large number of understandably anxious police units, in a heightened state of readiness, to the home of the still unsuspecting target. The first that the target or their unsuspecting family learns of this false report to law enforcement is when they are shocked to see an abnormal police presence descending on their residence.
The use of SWAT-ting as a harassment tool is apparently not new, but its use as a tool for targeting political speech appears to be a more recent development. During the last year, some of the more widely reported cases of SWAT-ting have taken place against blog operators across the country, including in Georgia. The emerging pattern is both disturbing and dangerous.
While these incidences are currently small in number, and have fortunately not led to any accidental physical harm, they are extremely concerning. The perpetrators appear to be targeting individuals who are vigorously exercising their First Amendment rights to political speech. As you know, these reported efforts to intimidate those who choose to enter the political forum and express their opinions are in conflict with the founding principles of our nation.
Regardless of any potential political differences that may exist, threats and intimidation have no place in our national political discourse. Those who choose to enter into that political discourse should not have to worry about potential threats to their or their family's safety.
While I am certain that local law enforcement is reviewing each of these instances, I am asking you to please look into each of these cases as well to determine if any federal laws may have been violated. Future targets of SWAT-ting, whether engaged in political speech or not, may not be so fortunate as to escape physical harm.
I appreciate your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response no later than June 29, 2012. Please feel free to contact my office with any questions or comments that you may have.
The Honorable Eric Holder? Whatever. Now of course filing a false report is a crime. Not to mention, one would think, hacking into someone's private number? Criminal impersonation? Could that also be considered identity theft?. Harassment? I can think of several charges that could apply without Obama's lap dog, and completely useless Eric Holder, who I doubt will even read this letter, getting involved. But he should.

You know, Obama keeps saying he wants civil discourse, {Laughing} I know, I know. But he keeps saying it. He keeps saying that there is no place in this country for personal attacks and vile discourse. Again, I know. Just listen to NBC. If you are not a liberal, you are evil, a stupid hick, and or, an extremist. Look what happened when they lost in Wisconsin. The voters are stupid. Some of the political punditry on the left actually broke down and cried on air that America died. Because they lost. Because all their hard work of rigging the elections, attempts to destroy their enemy Scott Walker, and the thuggery and voter intimidation, failed.

Will Eric Holder get involved in this? Don't hold your breath. But you know what folks. Nothing is working for the LWL {Left Wing Looneys} Nothing. They have tried everything that has worked in the past, not working now. So now they are trying NEW stuff. Chris Matthews saying small business are sitting on money just to make Obama look bad. Of course, as we get closer to the election, look for the Race Card to be playing even more than last election. Why? That's all they got left. If enough of you come out to vote in November, there is will not be enough voter fraud to offset the real voters. YOU. Intimidation is not going to work either. I hope, and I truly believe, the only thing they have left? The Race Card? That will not work either. Not this time.

Should be interesting to see if Eric actually even responds to Sen. Chambliss. I'm not sure I will hold my breath even just for a response.
Peter
